Good news – the eviction ban has been extended to 10/31/21.
The statewide temporary ban on evictions has been extended by one month in an effort to help Washington counties distribute COVID-19 rent relief. This will give renters more time to access rental assistance and stay in their homes.
King County ability to distribute federal pandemic assistance to both renters and landlords has been slower than expected. This extension will help ensure that no one is evicted while large amounts of rental assistance funding is still available but unused.
King County has only spent about 24% or $34 million of the $145 million it received from the federal government’s most recent funding. By comparison, Snohomish and Pierce counties have each spent more than two-thirds of their rent-relief dollars. Here is the full proclamation.
